History of Madame C.J. Walker


She was born December 23, 1867 – May 25, 1919); She was an American businesswoman, philanthropist and political and social activist. She was listed as the first woman to become a millionaire in the United States and was listed in the Guinness Book of World Records. Several people mention that although other women may have been the first to be rich. She was the first black woman to have her wealth so well documented


Walker made a fortune developing and marketing a line of cosmetics and hair care products for black women through the company she founded, Madam CJ Walker Manufacturing Company. She was also known for her philanthropy and activism. She made financial donations to various organizations and became a patron of the arts. Villa Lewaro, Walker's luxurious property in Irvington, New York, served as a social gathering place for the African-American community.

At the time of her death, she was considered the richest African-American businesswoman and the richest and most self-defense black woman in America.


Her name came from her third husband, Charles Joseph Walker, who died in 1926.

what would i do in her place:


If I were in her shoes I would definitely do the same as her, I wouldn't give up, Because I know how difficult her story and trajectory was; And fight prejudice like her. And never lower her head when they humiliate me, she herself created her own products. So I'm sure this woman became a reference for many people.

As we want to be a reference for people, we would redo the same steps as her.
